About Daps Dalyop Gwom

Dalyop Godwin Gwom, professionally known as Daps Dalyop Gwom, is an influential Nigerian gospel minister, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter deeply rooted in the prophetic and apostolic worship movement. Born and raised in Jos, Plateau State, and hailing from the Berom tribe, he grew up in a devout home where he developed a passion for unconventional musical patterns. He pioneered a distinctive musical style called "xylo-fro," seamlessly blending contemporary genres like jazz, reggae, and alternative music with indigenous African sounds, including the traditional harp and xylophone. Over a ministry spanning more than three decades, his deep, spiritually charged compositions—such as Kadosh, My Altar Is Calling, and I See Yahweh—have significantly reshaped the modern worship culture across Africa, inspiring a new generation of ministry leaders.

Beyond his recording career, which boasts dynamic albums like Sujada, Songs of Fire, and Ancient Worship, Daps is a versatile producer and filmmaker who has scored award-winning motion picture soundtracks. His civic contributions are equally notable, having composed official state anthems for both Plateau and Edo States. He serves as the vision pioneer of the Ancient Floodgate Global Ministry, hosts the impactful Feast of Incense gatherings, and leads organizations like the Oyoyo Africa Global Ministry and Africa’s Dream Sound. Married to his wife, Helen, with whom he shares three children, Daps continues to release poignant, indigenous worship projects, including his recent Hausa-led EP Karbi Yabo 'Na (Take My Praise), maintaining his legacy as a true spiritual voice of African epic worship.
